Hey everybody. Im just looking for some type of advice on this one.

The other day, I turned on my MacBook Pro on 10.5 and then I turned on the external drive. My drive started to make all of these loud screeching noises so I assumed that the drive was dieing and i proceeded to backup my data. by the time I had everything I wanted backed up the drive started to make a horrible screeching that was unbearable. Everyone else could hear it in the house. It was bad. Anyways, I wanted to make sure that the drive was actually dead before I did anything too extreme. So, I downloaded sea tools and I tried to use that but sea tools couldn't even detect the darn thing in the computer that I had it on. Disk Utility wont see it. I downloaded data guard and tried that. Absolutly nothing works. Anyways, is it a hard process to get a warranty replacement from seagate for this type of thing or is it a cryptic process.

The stats of the drive are listed below

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
500Gbytes
Ultra ATA

Any advice before I go for a warranted replacement?
