How to restore desktop link/shortcut to hard drive

Hi All,

This is a super-trivial problem, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it back.

The desktop link to my hard drive / computer disappeared, god knows why. Unfortunately it's one of those special things I can't just create an Alias for and slap into the desktop again.

What special trick am I missing to restore this icon on my desktop?
 
Use Finder Preferences.

I knew it was going to be something incredibly obvious and simple. Many thanks.

It's tricky sometimes when I work on a windoze machine - I'm so used to difficult solutions to simple problems that Mac ironically stumps me.
