iPod ipod ripping

I just recently upgraded to a new imac and macbook. I backed up all my music to my ipod from my old imac g5. It wont let me put the music from my ipod back to my new macs. I was told to purchase an ipod ripper however i notice some there are numerous applications with that description. Can anyone suggest an stable application to help me with dilemma? Thanks in advance

I havent used a PC in a while but I believe that ephpod still is pretty decent. I used to use it in a pinch a while ago.
