Hello,

My daughters 30gb 5th gen iPod has a broken HD. I was hoping some others out there would know which HD is the best bang for the buck to replace it with. 40gb???? Larger????

Thanks for all of your help!

I would say that it is not worth it to try and replace a hard drive in an iPod. If you want a larger hard drive then I suggest getting an 80GB iPod classic.

For size, it depends on how much music/videos she has, you dont want to spend the money for a 60 gig drive if shes only using 20. Also, something else would be to try and find someone who's selling a broken ipod that still has a working hard drive, such as craigslist or on these forums

I have replaced them before (lot's of mini's) This will be my first venture with the video iPod. We tend to pack them full of Kids TV shows and Movies for trips and such so, size matters (doesn't it always).
