A modern UNIX based OS with an elegant GUI and powerful graphical capabilities and state of the art OO development tools for the masses? It would be like Mac OS X, in the early 90s. Years before Windows 95, even before Windows 3.1.

NeXT would have cleaned up, they could have had the lot.

No point looking back in the past though. It's a testament to how good NeXTSTEP was that Mac OS X is using so many of the same technologies and still to looks very sophisticated and competitive decades later.
