Ipod Alarm Help

i've got an ipod with the latest software installed (2.1), but for the life of me, i just cannot figure out how to get the alarm to be anything but a beep... on apple's website they even have a graphic of an ipod screen selecting a playlist instead of just a noise. anyone have any idea how to fix that...?
