a battery inside the computer?
last year many portable bateries got in flames according the news. isn't a risky move to put the battery along the ic of the computer once that it gets very hot at times? this can damage the rest of ics even if the batt isn't faulty?

And last year every child almost died of poisoning from lead based paints...
That story has been around forever. It rarely happens and doesn't matter where the battery is located. The media likes to over-exaggerate things like that to keep you watching, especially when it's a slow news day. Don't worry about it. It's not as huge of a threat as Katie Couric makes it seem to be. Good question .. Time will tell in this case. I hope your concerns are not realized.
