With my new Powerbook being my first Mac, I am looking for a little help on how to do a clean install of new OS. Saving preferences, keeping your iTunes music, etc. All the information I can get will help. Panther should be here on Friday. Thanks.

You only ahve to put in the CD, it will mount on the desktop. you will have an install, click on it, it will ask you to reboot.
It will reboot on the CD. When choosing the installation option, you can choose the option to do a clean install, but to keep you used directory and your preferences. it's that easy.

good luck

When the installer runs, there will be an options button. In that section you will find the Archive and Install button. This will preserve your prefs and your user folder and all of your programs. It is a great feature that was introduced with Jaguar.
