MacBook Pro Launch February 12th?

HardMac claims that one of its sources is citing February 12th as the next launch window for hardware releases, namely the rumored MacBook Pro updates.

HardMac is not a typical rumor source, with their most recent rumor falling a bit short. However, this claim is not entirely outside of the previously rumored launch window.

It seems like all these different groups are merely speculating and one of them is bound to be right eventually...

It won't be the 12th since that's Lincoln's Birthday in the U.S.

HAA! That's a dig at the "it's Super Tuesday so Apple CAN'T update then!" posts, isn't it?

BRING IT ON APPLE!

And make sure that it's a true performer with real high end specs, like dual HDDs, two FW400/800 ports and BTO options like broadband and SSDs on the 17" model at least.

Hurry !
Today I am taking back a Macbook Pro that I bought 13 days ago.
This speculation in driving me crazy. Just realize the next update or announce that it will not be for several months, so people like me can move on with their lives.

Probalby not going to see Dual HDD's... apple has been pushing external HD's so I doubt they would see the need for to HDD's unless the 17" allows for a SSD and a HDD, so you could place your OS and apps on SSD and all your content in the HDD

You're correct.I thought Lincoln's birthday was a holiday. It's not so I'm sticking with my earlier prediction of Feb. 5th or Feb. 12th.

It's actually going to be the first Tuesday after the first full moon after ground hog's day (except in the southern hemisphere, then it's Wednesday).

I was about to purchase a MBP this month and now seeing that all this is going on I'm thinking about waiting a few more weeks. Does anyone know if I do go buy the current MBP at the stores if the prices will drop when the new one comes out (Will I be able to get the difference back if it's within the first few weeks)? I just don't want to go pay $3000- on a notbook only to see the next week it drop to $2000- ya know?

Only within the return window, so I believe that's two weeks. Outside two weeks, or maybe a month, you're stuck. Give Apple a quick call and ask what their price protections are.

Maybe if you buy it from a third party you'll get a better price protection deal

I HIGHLY doubt Apple will lower the price points for the MBPs (well, maybe the 17" but not the 15")...so I don't think you'll encounter this situation.

I really hope they'll come on the 5th, but I'm starting to doubt it because of all the MacBook Air displays they're putting up… it could be too soon for them to launch the Pro now? …So, the 12th may sadly be a good guess…

Don't buy now. You're throwing away money and ensuring buyers remorse if you do.

Depending upon the reseller, you may have a little more leeway than directly from Apple, but I would check their policies. Though Apple does sell some older and refurbished machines, it seems like this represents a bigger piece of the pie for outlets like MacMall and MacWarehouse than Apple. (Any insights?)

With Apple, if you purchase from a retail store you should be able to get the difference back within the two week return window if the newer version is made available for sale. (You'll have a little more work ahead of you if the newer MBP is just introduced, but not made available for order.) If you're buying from Apple and are near an Apple Store, I'd suggest going to the retail store rather than Apple.com; if you're going to return your machine or seek a refund of money after a price drop, the transaction will be quicker through the retail store.

Either way, you're HIGHLY UNLIKELY to see a $1000 drop, but good luck, whatever you decide.

Americans value their three-day weekends more than honoring presidents on their proper birthdays, so the government and business holiday is Presidents Day, on the 3rd Monday in February, rather than on Lincoln's or Washington's actual birthdays.

This year Presidents Day is February 18, so Apple has our permission to take the 12th!

New MacBook Pros will be released the Tuesday after 10.5.2 is released.

(I thought it would be released today, but so far, my software update says no.)

We stopped celebrating Washington and Lincolns birthday and rolled them together into the floating presidents day to make room for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Oh yes. This must be the reason.

Honest Abe, your birthday is such an Important event. I just want to sit in my house and pray all day. I'll start by waking up early, putting on a abe lincoln costume and hat, flying to D.C. to see your memorial, then going to dinner and dancing for your celebration. Yes, and even a Birthday Cake with all 199 candles on it. I will be so so so busy with all the Planning, Partying, and Cleaning that i will be exausted by the time its all over. I coudlnt even imagine going to the local apple store or even the world wide web (which you dont know what that is yet since you are prehistoric) and purchasing a new MacBook Pro. Hell, I might just spend all my hard earned money I saved for it for a birthday present for you.

Looks like this is deffiantly the reason Apple will not release the New MBP on the 12th. Sorry "HardMac" your prediction is without merit.

Question,
I know new MBP is due pretty soon. But do you think new MBP will have new design or just minor hardware upgrade?
If it will come out with totally new design, I think I will buy it definitely, but if not, I think it's better to wait for next one.
If I can...

the majority of speculation here on this board says that at the most, this update will include a minor processor bump and a POSSIBLE video card upgrade at best. However, in all honesty you know as much as we do about this
