YESS. Finally some update! I think I'm gonna pick this up if it's true! I've been waiting for some kind of update. I'm glad to hear it's so soon!

16GB would be nice, but not worth upgrading.

Now if it had 3G and Tethering, I would be down that O2 store yesterday!!! :D

I know, "Be happy with what you have.", but I finally went out an bought an 8GB model right after MacWorld since nothing was announced. If this is the case, and the price point for the 16GB is the same as what I paid, I'll be very miffed. It's "conveniently" just after the 2 week period?! Very weak. And no, I'm not looking to run out an update, but it's the principle that they full well knew it was coming out and didn't announce it to help the consumer make the most informed decision that they could... And frankly, "It's inevitable.", and "You should have know." are just as weak answers/comments.

They should bring the 16GB in at the current price, and drop the price of the 8GB.

Typically of course they won't

exactly!

this is to avoid having to refund 8gb purchases with the price difference...
they learned this one from the 100USD price drop i reckon

When you go to the Apple online store it has the "We'll Be Back Soon" note and says they are updating it. Good news.

EDIT: I missed the mention of this above from another poster. My mistake.

Any sources for your confirmation on pricing?

All I know for sure is that it's 16gig. In stock, available tomorrow morning and £349. Here's the source: (taken from my post in another thread)

OK. FACT:
I just called the 02 store in Chiswick (london) and asked-
'I just bought the 8gig Iphone, can I upgrade it to the 16gig model?'
The answer was 'no, you are on an 18mth contract'.
I then asked - 'What about if I come in and buy it outright? It's £349 right?'
He answered with 'Yes, they are £349 but you are on a contract so speak to customer services about upgrading'
I then asked - 'Can I come and buy one now?, you have them for sale right?'
'No, no,' He responded. "we are not allowed to sell them until tomorrow morning".
Guess that's proof for me that the Iphone updates are coming to the apple store. Question is - Will they do a simultaneous MBP release?
I highly doubt it.
