Disable Icon Preview in Leopard

Is there any way to disable the universal icon preview in the Leopard Finder?

For example, I want my .doc, .rtf, and .docx files to appear in Finder as they do in Mail - as icons and not a tiny, unreadable preview of the file; that's what QuickLook is for if you ask me. I am willing to sacrifice image preview in the cause of, IMO, easier to find icons.

This doesn't disables it for any new windows opened. How do you disable globally and forever and ever? Thanks

Click Use as Defaults after you uncheck the show icon preview option.

Hey all!!

I would like to know if it is possible to disable icon preview, but only for network volumes??

I'm fine with the Leopard Finder generating a preview for local files, but when i'm accessing my remote WebDAV or SMB network volumes, it chokes and freezes the Finder momentarily.

Any ideas??

Wrong.

This method does not work.
