Have product key, but don't have CD... legal to download?
Maybe this is an odd question, but I have a product key for Windows 2000 (yes, legally obtained), but I don't have the install disc... Can I download a copy? Is it legal to do so?

Yes. Although it is more legitimate to just copy it from someone.

I don't see why not. I've done it when faced with having to format people's laptops as a last resort to fix and they don't have the disks.
Works just fine and because it's the serial you pay for really, there shouldn't be a problem. |

It really doesnt matter either way, as you're using the license.
And what you're really paying for is the license, not the disc. Hell, I bet Microsoft would send you a disc if you called and asked nicely.
