Searched around for a thread but couldn't find anything similar...

Whenever I restart my MBP (or just the dock itself) after it has been shut down, the dock loads as a setup I had like 2 months ago. All the updates I've made to it (adding and removing permanent docked programs) are lost. I have no idea why. I thought it might be fixed with 10.5.2 but it wasn't.

It's really annoying because I've made a lot of changes since the dock that keeps loading.

Any thoughts/advice?

This is probably a corrupt preference file. Try moving it to the desktop (it's in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist), use Activity Monitor to quit Dock, so it restarts, modify it and try to restart.

That didn't work 🙁 Thanks for the advice though.

(Now how do I get that plist file off my desktop without deleting the dock? 😕)

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Just wanted to update in case someone else was having the same problem -

It turned out that a program I had called XSpinner was causing them not to save. I don't know how or why it was doing it, but I got one of my Mac-savvy friends to look at it and he deleted the program and it was fine.
