Free internet providers that are currently still alive: NetZero and Juno who merged into United Online. There just aren't many who could survive the dotcom crash, moreso ISP who can afford to give away internet service to PC users, MAC users and Linux users and everybody else. There are, however, many sub-$10 ISPs out there right now. Search around and you'll find one nearby.

The best way to go is a local ISP, who is based right there in the city/town where you live.

If that is not possible, try visiting freedomlist.com

Hope this helps.
