SDK Anticipation thread; top 3 apps you'd like to see?

I really, really cannot wait for the end of February and the release of the SDK. The possibility of watching Sling in class on my iPod Touch over Wifi...Wow

Anyways, If I had to rank the top three applications I would like to see with the SDK, they would be:

1) Slingplayer
2) Flash of some sort
3) GPS unit + software

Wirelessly posted (iTouch 1.1.3 (JB'd): Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A93 Safari/419.3)

I'd love to see an app like SMBPrefs, which allows people to use wallpaper on the home screen (what a novel concept! Why the hell didn't Apple allow this in the first place?!) as well as custom icons.

I would also like to see MobileScrobbler as well.

Of course both of those already exist and are freely available if you JailBreak - so there's no need to wait for the SDK. I guess the only other thing I'd like to see (that the SDK might help) are cool games.

How can GPS be incorporated if the Touch only works where there's unsecured Wifi?

- ToDo with added Sync-ability of Notes+ToDo with Leopard's.
- Some sort of copy/paste trickery.
- Notepad with Japanese Kanji hand-writing recognition, sort of like <http://www.chasen.org/~taku/software/ajax/hwr/index.html> (completely JavaScript and HTML based, but you need to have the ability to drag, which MobileSafari does not).

(Not interested the slightest in Flash, but quite the opposite that Web Developers realize of the necessity of embedding it with SWFObject each and every time they do, allowing then for accessible alternate content).

hook up the touch to a bluetooth gps receiver and then probably have dedicated gps maps. or have a portable version of google maps, so you can download sections of it and keep it for offline viewing.

I want more offline content. I live in Australia and free wifi access is just non-existent outside my own home.

My most wanted apps:

1. PDF reader
2. Todo software
3. Emulator software (NES, Spectrum, etc)

MadDoc,

but google maps on the touch doesn't store bits of the map for offline use I noticed once when I was playing about with it, I turned the touch off came back to it a couple hours later and where I had been was not there, it only seems to store the last bit of maps you viewed

anyway what I'd like to see is the ability to use all these installer apps without the need to jailbreak (which I hope the SDK will bring). I dont mind jailbreaking my touch when new updates are out but to be able to not fuss around with jailbreaking to use the apps would be nice

I consider lack of Flash a feature, not a drawback....

As to what I would like to see... Well, some of these might be considered upgrades to the OS itself, but still.

1. DAAP-client. That is the ability to stream music from the device to AppleTV/Airport Express

2. A basic office-suite. In other words: a lightweight spreadsheet and word-processor. Maybe even Bento-lite.

3. Ebook-reader.

1. Games! I am hoping EA or someone else comes through with some cool stuff, I'd love to see a Myst-like adventure game, along with smaller, arcade, time-waster stuff. Very curious to see what developers will do with multi-touch. I have a secret hope that John Carmack is cooking something up for us as well.

2. iChat or full chat app

3. Flash (I understand that some loathe Flash...but the web is not just for dispensing and gathering information, it is a medium to be experienced like many other mediums, whether it be audio/video/animation/social networking, whatever. That is reality. Not to mention some very cool things and applications can be created with good/inspired use of Actionscript. The web is just as valid a medium for personal expression as any other. If you don't like the use of Flash, avoid sites and individuals using it to express themselves. /rant )

1) Mount device as a storage device
2) PDF reader
3) Outlook sync with ToDo List and Notes
4) Encrypted Password vault application
5) Flash
6) Office doc editing - word, excel first

(I love the touch twice as much as other people so that is why I put six items down...)
