I'm planning on getting a external hard drive (this one) and have a couple of questions...
I want to move my video library and archive folder over too the external (and remove them from the internal drive) but I also would like to Time Machine the rest of the internal hard drive.
Can I do this? Or does activating Time Machine stop manual use of the external hard drive? Is it even recommended to do both? If I can, I assume I would need to keep the Time Machine section and the part I manually manage distinct (partition maybe?) My iMac hard drive is 320GB so I guess I would save that amount of space for TM and have the remaining 430GB for other stuff (manual back up).
Also, on a related note... how reliable are external hard drives?
