MacPro Quad 2.66 4gig...Tiger...

Every once in a while it does this...

I have my headphones and external monitors hooked up to the line out on the back, nothing plugged into the headphone jack on front. I usually have all sound going out the line out. Now for some reason I have audio like music, video, etc coming out the internal speaker and my sound effects coming out the line out. Adjusting volume only controls the line out. Can't adjust or mute the internal speaker. What gives?

Ok...more specifically...only audio from safari is going out the internal speaker...everything else going out the line out.

I'll be curious what responses you get because my Mac Pro has the same 'Sound Out' quirks as yours. I feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one with this oddity.

You can set it yourself under the audio options.
Or at least this is how I have re-routed everything to the line-out.

I'm not getting any sound at all out of the rear line out jack any more. Only the headphone jack. Spent 40 mintues on the phone with what I swear to god was a 12 year old dyslexic tech. 7 goes before he was able to correctly read me back my serial number.

Off to the genius bar...
