Windows Network from OS X

I was wondering of ii was possible to access shared files on a PC which is on the same networl as my mac?

If it is possible how would i go about dpwnloafing these files?

From finder, click "Go", "Connect to Server".

Select the Windows machine in the list.

Connect.

Double-click the icon and drag the files to your mac.

Drag the icon to the trash to disconnect from it.

It says

"An error has occurred (error = -5000)

when i entered "//AVATAR4938" (which is a pc on my network) and hit connect...

see if you can find it w/o typing it

Is windows sharing turned on in your Sharing preference pane?

If not then you need to enter this "smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/<user_on_pc_to_login_as>"

If it is wait and your mac should find it. Else just follow the above and it will work. The "//" thing is a windows thing.
