iLife, iTunes 5.0, Keynote 2.0

AppleInsider reports that iLife will be updated in January, along with unconfirmed rumors that iTunes 5.0 will see a released on the Mac first, and a major upgrade to Keynote (2.0), and more hints at a Apple branded word processor (presumably not Appleworks? though is unclear).

updates are always good - I better hurry out and get Panther though as I have a feeling iTunes 5 will require it

Bring them on! Im anxious to see an update to Keynote! About the word processor... I just hope that Apple is carefull not to piss off Microsoft way too much, or we might loose support from them.

hmmm, there are two stories on the front page with spelling mistakes, you spelt keynote wrong and on the iPod LCD remote story I belive you meant to type "site" because I do not know what "slied" means.
If this is all true though I wonder why Apple would choose to change the name of it's word processor?

Keynote is mistyped...just thought I'd point that out for the editors out there to fix up...

As far as a rumored updates, they sound pretty exciting. I wonder if the Word Processor rumor will be true. I've been hoping for a non-Appleworks word processor from Apple for a long time but now that I broke down and just spent $150 on Office, it will suck to spend another $100+ if this does happen. Damn you Apple for having so much cool stuff for me to spend my money on!

ahhh the apple pda! finally the treo 90 won't be my only option! Just kidding, I know better.... my hopes have been squashed for years now. For those who think I'm mad, ("Mad I tell you!") I point to alphasmart's dana wireless or handspring's treo line as the only emate option I would consider for now.

Anyone else notice in the Quicktime for Windows launch that there were a couple of builds that Steve did that would be incredibly hard with the current Keynote?

Take care,

Thumbs up iLivelyhood!

here's hoping for a more robust imovie 4! maybe iLife could integrate into all of these rumoured apps - you could send a movie into keynote, a caption creator in appleworks 7 (?) into iphoto. while we're at it - lets supercharge appleworks, create a database spreadsheet maker, add a primitive web publisher, load in keynote!

keynote - appleworks - applespreadsheet - apple publisher - iphoto - itunes - imovie - idvd = an iLife ~ professional edition! that my friends, is a m$ office killer!

yeah, i've only had 3 hours of sleep last night

FYI, the proper use of the sic notation of a quote requires not correcting the original quote, thereby denoting the error in the original statement as not your own but the original author's.

i think that in this keynote update we are gonna see what job's has been doing in his presentations, for example on the g5 when 2ghz rolls on screen it zips along with a live type like effect, and when he talks about hell frooze over it drops away and blurs out letter by letter. so i do think more advanced build in and out options are to come, it should be VERY interesting to see.

I hope they release iTunes 5 for Win and Mac at the same time. Apple needs to show Wintel users that they are not second-class citizens at iTMS. Just think how much it bugs us to see games six months after the PC version.

I could really go with a new Keynote. Can't do exactly what I want with the current version...but it's so pretty.

I'm hoping to see support for Ogg Vorbis

but I'm not holding my breath.

It would also be nice to see iTunes for Linux but I know that ain't happening.

Word processor. Word processor. Word processor.

A long time ago Word for the Mac supported EPSF -- create an figure in Canvas, export it to EPSF, put it in Word, and get beautiful output on your printer.

Not anymore. Microsoft has decided to, for all practical purposes, kill support for EPSF and PDF.

Apple has partly corrected this with Keynote, now they need to give us basic Word Processor to replace MS Word.

(I have tried Nisus a the current AppleWorks, and they are lacking)

ilife and finder

I see the new ilife suite being incorporated into something like the finder
think about it
on the left, you have the toolbar with allk the ilife apps, and then it turns into librarys or playlists, or albums when you click ont he one you want
if you look at it, all the ilife apps look very similar to the new finder, what if they took that one step further and made them all one app called ilife
then access each on from the sidebar
just a though, i like it

Do you want iLife to be like IE in Windows? I know I dont...keep them separate. Speed up iPhoto, and toss in some iType.

Probably would be the right thing to do...but turnabout is fair play. The addiction will build...

End of Appleworks?

Reason I say that it's pretty apparent Appleworks is not working hence almost everyone uses Mac office. I believe eventually Jobs is building standalone apps so at some point he will fuse them together and form something similar to MS Office but in more Apple way of doing it.
Next will probably be spreadsheet app and a database app.

You could call it something like Apple iWorks or something like that.

I believe if iTunes 5 comes out in Jan then that means they will probably release both verison at the sametime and if not then the Wintel ver will probably get released the following week probably with some other new products.
