My 15'' 2.4ghz MacBook Pro will only wake up from sleep about 50% of the time. I have tried waiting for several minutes, but the only solution seems to be holding down the power button, and then restarting. Is there anything i can do to fix this?
Occasionally when I put my MacBook Pro to sleep it won't wake properly. The computer starts up but the screen doesn't show anything. Sometimes if I wait a long time it will turn on or if I unplug the power cord but other times I am forced to hold the power button down and reboot the machine. Has anyone experienced this/know a fix? Thanks.
I'm running Leopard 10.5.2 on a MBP SR by the way.
I had the same problem. I'm almost 100% sure it is the istat Pro widget. You can either remove it completely or just disable the "Network" section. It was an instant cure for me. My MBP now sleeps and wakes normally.
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
Also having the same issue. It used to only be occasionally, but now it's happening more than 95% of the time I put it to sleep! No one I've read about seems to have it happening this often. This began only a few days ago, I'm not sure when I installed the keyboard update, is there some way to check? I reset the power manager, and the PRAM. That didn't help. I disconnected it from everything, including the airport and that didn't help. I called apple, of course, they didn't help. I just disabled iStat Pro and changed my hibernate mode to 0. Hopefully that will help. It really bothers me to do the hard restart, let alone multiple times a day. I know it's waking up, because I can hear adium sign in, and it chime if I have email, and the keyboard will light up, but nothing from the screen. Grrr, if this doesn't fix it I'm going to hurl the thing at the wall. I live two hours away from an apple store (my college town doesn't have one, good old Savannah, GA) and I won't be going home (where there is an apple store) for two weeks. This of course happens just when I think everything is going well with my MBP, when I haven't had any devastating problems since last August. I'll let you know if it gets better.
