Number of visits means nothing - some guy could just have an automatic refresh script or something; its the number of unique visits which is really important.

Honest Question

How on God's green earth is MS #3? Who goes to any of their sites? I'm not being facetious I really don't know anyone that uses their search engine and I never see anyone surfing MS sites. Any ideas??

I agree. It's rather strange. It must be a strange niche that we have yet to discover in person. haha

Their support and Knowledge Base is quite a useful resource when you are having problems with their products.

I think they're looking for the Vista complaint department.... it's sort of like the old AOL Cancelation department... buried and hard to find for some reason?

www.msn.com is a Microsoft site that happens to be the default on a lot of PCs...that would add up rather quickly, I suspect.

Judging by the number of people on MR reloading the Apple page waiting for updates in January I'd say this story means nothing.

Noone would be sad enough to setup an auto-refresh thingy.

I suspect the figures include Windows update and Apple Software update, which is why Microsoft.com gets so many hits. Software updates are certainly counted as hits on my website.

That's a pretty useless form of accessing a site, I agree.

On the other hand, a company's products generating THAT much interest probably means MORE than many other useless forms of Web usage, like looking up problems on Microsoft's support site, or just about any use of Facebook
