Hello-

When I have a lot of applications open, or I'm doing something in a graphics or video program (most often Motion), my computer becomes unresponsive. I am able to move my mouse around, and any iTunes music I was playing continues to play, but onscreen animations pause and all buttons and keyboard commands produce no response. I am able to sleep my iMac when it is frozen by pressing the power button, but waking it from sleep produces the startup screen forever, and I am not able to log in and resume my work.

I've been force restarting my iMac every time it freezes. I'm approaching finals week for two video classes and it's INCREDIBLY annoying to repeatedly lose hours worth of work so I've decided to turn to you guys before I plunge into the thick of it. I've tried running programs like iFreeMem or Disk Utility (off the Tiger install disc) and neither has worked. Thank you very much in advance.

My computer's specs:
20" iMac Intel Core Duo (not Core 2) running Tiger with latest software updates
2GB RAM
256MB graphics card
500GB HD
