iMac DV 3rd Party Mouse and Keyboard

Tried to Install Panther, Needed Firmware update, System Froze really badly, Unplugged, Turns on to Install Firmware Update on OS X disk, System Chimes, lights, Turns on for a few seconds, nothing on screen... Any Suggestions?
