Optical drives going nUtS

Ok, I just put a DVR-104 drive into my MDD PowerMac (in the bottom slot in the cage) and now the drives won't stay closed!

When the computer started up, both drives opened, so naturally I pushed them closed, but they kept popping open. Even when I put a CD in either one, they keep popping open.

WTF is going on ???

Any help appreciated!!!!
