i've had the air for nearly a month now...

and its completely changed the way i use a computer. it hasn't been a month yet and i already feel so attached to it. i often wonder how i was able to last so long without one.

as a new mac os user, i can proudly and confidently say that i will never revert back to windows ever in my life.

as for my uses, my 1.8/80 is currently my only computer, and as a college student in new york city, its great having the portability that the air offers, as well as enough juice to keep me satisfied.

so for those of you out there who aren't so sure if the air would be a good purchase, i can't guarantee anything... but as for my personal use it has completely revolutionized my computing.

i'm left as a very satisfied customer. excited for the months ahead.

Im with you Buddy. I have used Windows for as long as I have used a computer and WOW MAC ROCKS. My Air is my only computer as well and it is simply a fantastic, amazing computer with all that I need for my everyday use. I live in Victoria where there is probably not as much wifi as New York but being able to flawlessly connect wherever there is wifi is pretty cool and it all just works so good. I love it. I think we need to start a MBA convention where everyone can come and tell stories of how much they love their Air.....New York would be a great place to have it I think.

Usually switchers tend to post "why doesn't this work like", or "my old Windows laptop did."

I hope you'll feel the same way a year from now.

Me thinks the Air is really a cool computer even given its shortcomings.

Nice to hear these sentiments from a new mac user. Enjoy Mac OS X. Even though we all use different Macs, it's so nice to use an OS that just works. Likewise, I *LOVE* my MBA!

It's awesome...I'm at the Microsoft Mix in Vegas, and normally I would be carrying my 17" MacBook Pro around.....with a freaking back ache. (I feel to girly pulling one of the roll totes). Anyway, not anymore!! This little beauty is so light and easy to carry...I barely even know I have it on my shoulder.

The form factor is certainly nice. I get wow looks everywhere I go.

However, now that I'm currently traveling with the MBA, the core shutdown issue has struck my MBA at least 3 times already in the last 4 days. Its just normal web surfing stuff that I do and entourage. I might have 2-4 windows open and the MBA will just go full tilt, temps to 65* and fans at 6204 and the cursor will start to freeze.

I think we will see more of this issue from normal users. I think this will become a design flaw of the thin formfactor. If this continues, I don't know how viable the MBA is for travel and normal daily business use.

Ditto the first poster's thoughts! My last Mac was a Centris 660AV in the early 90s. I'm totally delighted with Leopard, I think it's a pleasure to use and I'm more productive in it. Huge fan of Spaces. And the surface of the laptop is so comfortable, I don't use my old laptop stand.

Needed to access my Leopard DVD once after XCode nuked some framework -- Remote Disc Just WOrked for me. So far no regrets about not buying the superdrive.

I've opened my Thinkpad twice since I got my Air three weeks ago. I do miss my Thinkpad's battery life -- I had the extended battery and the media bay battery. I'd carry around an external battery if there was an Air-Magsafe one.

Well, if you're going to spring for the SSD (good call!), you might as well get the 1.8. The price difference is a much smaller percentage of the overall price of the computer when you get the SSD, and having the faster CPU will extend the usable lifetime of the machine by probably a year or more versus the 1.6 GHz CPU.

My MBA hasn't changed my life... but I like it a heck of a lot more than I liked by MBP, and I just love how portable it is.

You should get an external monitor to compliment the MBA at home. 13 inch screen all the time will cause your eyes to pop outta their sockets.

Got to agree with the OP's sentiments - the MBA Rocks!
Since I got mine, not only has my MBP been put into mothballs, my Mac Pro has been relegated to being a media and file server: I've not used it for anything else since I got the Air
I'm using mine (1.8 SSD) with Aperture, Photoshop, XCode, Zend Studio, Eclipse, VMWare and Office 2008 and it absolutely flies

yeah, leopard in itself - just amazes me. i guess if there is ONE thing that i would like to see on the air, that would be higher resolution providing more real estate on the screen, but the ingenious of spaces solves that issue right away. makes everything look nice and clean. leopard - just plain makes a lot of sense.

i had thought about getting an external, and i decided against it. my old setup was a dell latitude hooked to a docking station so it basically ran like a full on desktop, though i don't mind at all just using the air in its glory...

i purchased a bluetooth mouse, but haven't used it more than three times. i love the finger gestures! they just need to enable firefox for them and i'll be more than happy.

but yes, it is my only computer - and it more than meets my everyday needs. plus carrying three pounds with me around the city everyday, feels like its almost nothing at all. i carry it in a waterfield sleeve inside of an incase backpack. my back doesn't seem to mind at all.

thankfully, no initial problems. battery life has been alright though it does fluctuate a bit. i typically get about 4 hours a charge. i don't regret not getting a MBP one bit in that it would be overkill for me. (though the bigger screen would be nice sometimes)

I so don't need one of these but am so close to just buying one. After playing with one in the Apple Store last week and while waiting to pick up my iMac from repairs, I impulsively told the sales guy to go get me one. They were out of stock.

I love mine as well. I have had zero issues with it and am really enjoying the Mac world. It's so nice tou have a machine that just works - PERIOD. I love iLife, i love Leopard, I love the actual machine. It's all great.

I have a 24" iMac for media serving and editing. Just trying to figure out how to sync it all.

I'm glad to hear that it's going well too. I was planning on switching from a 15" C2D 2.16 MBP to a MBA + an iMac, but I've read enough posts about the MBA being the only computer that I'm 90% sure I won't need another Mac.

Same here. My MBP is working great, so I have no "need" to change, but the more I wait to do this, the more it feels like how it felt when I was waiting for the iPhone to be released.

FWIW, Chronosync is what I usually end up reading about when people as the "syncing" question in other threads.

loving my MBA as well. I'm a new apple guy myself. I had such a good experience with the iPhone that I decided to try a mac. The air is everything that I have ever wanted. I'm also happy with leopard, its such a fun thing digging into such a new world.
