Refused By Receiver? - Delivery

Hiya.

I recently ordered an Apple TV, and it shipped yesterday. I have just checked the status of the order, and UPS state that it was 'Refused by receiver'...

I didn't even get a package to my door, so what is going on!?

Will my package will be delivered tomorrow as expected?

So many questions,
Rose.

With UPS it's tough to tell. I've seen them make some monumental errors. I would speculate that they went to the wrong house and the person said that it wasn't theirs. Or, it could have been a driver who was behind that day and randomly flagged some packages as attempted delivery or refused so that he could get back to the depot at a decent hour.

Since you have the tacking number, their 1-800 number should be able to help clear things up.

Sounds like a good idea.

If UPS unexpectedly chapped my door with a box with an logo on the side, no questions would be asked....

Sadly, we have had consistently bad experiences with UPS delivering to the wrong house, even when the house is in a known sub-division and clearly marked. I think some drivers are just not as good as others, and corporate apparently does not treat the issue seriously enough to incent the bad drivers to do better... some conversations with representatives (including managers) have been surreal, illogical, and down-right rude (on their part).

Good luck!

What? They'll tell you where your tack is?

Why would someone come here to ask about delivery of their UPS package. Does this look like http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/con...?WT.svl=SecNav ?

Strange UPS story...

I had a distributor ship something from Chicago to my house north of Flint.

It shipped and I figured 2 days tops. Well, 4 go by. No package. Track via UPS and it's 'disappeared'. No record of it since it left the distributor's dock. They have a 2 week lost ship/reship policy so I have to wait 2 weeks for it to be reshipped.

Well, nearly a week later, the package shows up. In Oregon!

The UPS station manager there sends it back into the system. It shows back up at the Chicago CACS. It leaves the next day. I wait 3 days and call UPS. They have lost it again. I laugh and say that if it shows up in Oregon again, someone will have some explaining to do. 'Oh, no. It won't end up in Oregon again, I can assure you of that.'

I wait another 4 days.

TAH DAH!!! It's in Oregon AGAIN! I try to track down the agent that assured me that it wasn't going to show up in Oregon again and they are 'out'. Uh huh...

UPS supposedly orders that package taken out of the 'car' that it's in and put on a plane and ships it via air back to Chicago as soon as they can get it there and then I end up with it the next day.

The excuse? It had another bar code label on the box that faked out the CACS in Chicago (which is a hugemongous computerized sorting system). Problem is the box didn't have any extra labels when I got it nor did it have any over labeled ones either. It was a mystery...

That is why I only use FedEx Ground now. I think they used to be the old Rodeway Package Service. Getting packages to them is harder than UPS but the service is better, so far. I can call go after hours and pick up packages to which UPS pitches a royal hissy about doing (understandably).

FYI: with Apple stuff, I always pay the few extra bucks for expedited delivery. It ships via regular FedEx.

I also had a package that was labeled "refused by receiver". Finally was able to find out that if a package arrives to the local UPS distro center with damage, they sometimes enter "refused..." and then ship it back to the sender (lands end). I ended up calling the sender and telling them what happened and they reshipped the order. I assume that the first package eventually made it back to LE.

Apple's site says they ship FedEx though. What's up with them using UPS? I am actually getting my ATV tomorrow and I printed one of those forms that asks the fedex girl (yes a girl) walk it to the back. I'll actually be home but I signed it anyway since I live in the guest house in back.

So I ask...UPS?

Apple Standard Shipping is with FedEx, but you can choose FedEx, UPS, or DHL.

Funny someone mentioned Flint. I live there 6 months out of the year, in a gated apartment complex, and at least once a week one of the 30 or so FexEx trucks (one for each division, because they've never heard of Synergy) will come to the complex that has never been there before (and therfore doesn't have a key card) will say the package is undeliverable and force the reciepent to drive to the FedEx Center.

Why do you guys feel the need to post in a thread when you have nothing useful to contribute? The OP clearly wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience with UPS, a perfectly reasonable request.

OP? Like a previous poster I got that message when my delivery people tried to give my shiny new Apple product to a person at the wrong address - fortunately they were honest enough to say it wasn't theirs!

Actually, I told them to contact UPS. That is really the only way to know for sure what happened, and what this means for their package.

I'll ring up Apple's sales support line this morning...

It seems UPS has changed the status of apple TV to:

"Out for Delivery"

once again, but most likely to Apple.

Her post made it seem like she wanted someone to see into the future. Her best bet would be to contact UPS customer service and I gave her the link to go to. How is that not useful????

Everyones interaction with UPS is not going to be the same, so no matter what your experience was hers will be YMMV.

How is that useful to Rose? Her situation is totally different!
I don't think we want this buying tips forum to turn into a 'what's your complaint with UPS'

Totally different? Really? Despite the fact that "refused by receiver" showed up for both of us?

No, we don't. But neither do we want it to turn in to a 'let's leave smart-ar$ed and unhelpful replies to genuine requests for advice/info just because we got out of bed on the wrong side this morning' forum, now do we?

Tell me how my reply was unhelpful? You can't can you?

Yes, I put in a sarcastic preface; it would be so simple to just contact UPS. However, I did put useful info in my post, so obviously you are a liar

I already admitted I put a sarcastic preface. I see that you conveniently edited out the USEFUL part of my reply in support of your lie.

Well I contacted Apple, and chatted to an Australian lady. She said she would call UPS and she also said that it was very strange that this happened.

Basically
  • Lady will ask UPS to ship back to Apple
  • Apple will ship out again with another courier
  • I will receive the order

I've had nothing but trouble with UPS and Fedex, so now I use DHL exclusively or USPS if they will ship it. I once had the UPS guy vehemently claim that he came to my door an dropped of a package to me in PERSON, when I was not home that day. Long story short they had to refund me my shipping AND money for the item I bought. I suspect the guy stole what I ordered.
