How to tell if both cores are running?

Any specific window to access on the Air to see if one core has shut down?
 
one core shouldnt just shutdown. the cores run simultaneously. check out Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.

In activity monitor, go to the menu and select View->Dock Icon->Show CPU History. Then in the icon in the dock you should see two graphs showing the CPU usage of each core.
