Was working fine, but now...TM

For the past couple of weeks it was fine, but now TM is constantly "preparing" when backing up my MBP. It was constantly "preparing" before and after the latest Apple update. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
 
7.3.1 brought a big problem for me as well and I posted this on the support forum.

Now, my TC does not accept any setting, I've tried a dozen times to change my password and network settings but after restart it stops responding and then I have to reset it again. an endless loop..

I can't go back to 7.3 either since I don't have that firmware on my macbook, I am stuck and angry :/
 
Yeah, it's frustrating, to say the least. I'm a fairly recent switcher, and I've hit walls in all directions with the hardware I've purchased. Now, overall, I'm pleased, but if I'm paying the 'Apple premium' I do expect it to 'just work.' I hope someone can help us with a quick TC help.
