Movies For PURCHASE?!?

So I noticed today that there were many movies available for purchase, not just rental. I was psyched to see that!

I think there needs to be different places for rentals/purchases in the interface, but it's cool to see them both.

Rumor has it, however, that the for-purchase content got yanked earlier today (I haven't checked to see if that's true, though).

Anyone know what's going on?

Movies have been available for purchase from the iTunes store for quite a while now. Only a few studios have agreements with Apple for selling movies, while most studios jumped on board for rentals.
Movie purchases have not been pulled, and the ones that are available to buy are not going anywhere AFAIK.
The amount "For Rent" content is greater than the "For Sale" content, and some movies are for sale only with no rental option. Now just today I noticed Disney's "Enchanted" is for sale only, but only through iTunes and not via AppleTV. The whole thing is kinda confusing, but what can one do?

I know there are purchases available through the iTunes store, but purchases were available through the Apple TV! No lie.

I confirmed that it looks like they were all yanked, though.

You could get Cars, Monsters Inc., and literally about 400 other movies, but it looks like Apple rolled back the releases. Like, it used to be that on some movies you'd either have a purchase option, or a rent/HD rent/purchase option on the buttons on the interface.

I'm excited! I bet the technical blip was a preview of things to come, and apparently Apple has the ability to introduce a movie purchase button without a new firmware update!

Using my magic swami skills, I predict that the 3G iPhone will come out this summer with a GPS chip and sell for $200 with a two year contract with AT&T.
