Ok, I've got a folder with all my music. I also notice that iTunes also has a separate folder with music in there. Are those two folders identical?

Can i delete my music from my non-iTunes folder, and still have it in iTunes, or will it be erased from iTunes?

Sorry for being a bit vague, I don't really know how to explain it....

If you consolidate your library, then iTunes will copy all of your music into it's folder. After doing this, then you should be able to delete your folder. Make sure iTunes is set to automatically keep your music organized before you consolidate.
