Happy April Fools: April 1, 2008

Today is April 1, 2008 and represents April Fool's Day -- so readers should be wary of hoaxes and claims at both news and rumor sites today. Today also represents Apple's 32nd anniversary. Apple was founded on April 1st, 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

While we avoid tainting our news stories with April Fools jokes, we've posted hidden Aprils Fools pages in the past:

2007. MacRumored - MacRumors circa early 1990s
2006. MacRumors Page 3 - Mac News and Rumors You Can't Believe

Heh, April 1st is almost over here.

Typical MacRumours - always late to the party, I've known about the iPhone Dev Team quitting for about a week now. Where were you MacRumours? Where were you?

I find most April Fools internet pranks exceedingly not-funny... but the one that I really liked was Slashdot's OMG Ponies! redesign a few years ago:

Apple to release PC version of OSX in Q3

Apple is set to launch an assault on the world's biggest computer marketplace with plans to release a version of its new Leopard operating system for PCs.

www.itwire.com/content/view/17413/53

Very likely to be a April Fools prank......

I assume that it's not really April Fool's Day, and that anybody who says it is is merely trying to fool us because it's April Fool's Day!

Bravo. Love to see people not take themselves too seriously.

Anyone have a link to Google Broadband that you flush down the toilet to install? That was brilliant!

I actually pulled that custom time stunt to win a contest in my econ class (first to submit answer to brainteaser after specified time).

That was easy with a desktop mail client. Just change the time on my machine before hitting 'send'. Turns out his machine just used the time headers it was given.

Who is the volunteer MacRumors fool for the day?

Personally ... whoever it is deserves to be the fool for the entire month of April.

That said, just saw flying penguins on a report on BBC Breakfast news this morning....that made me chuckle!

Have a good one!
