Love to know when my pb17 can boast a full 2-gig of memory...

well, just in case you didnt read that correctly, he said he already owns the powerbook.

Anyways you need a 1GB SoDIMM (DDR333, PC2700)

Here are a few places to get them:

I tend to buy Kingston, but I think I'll wait 'til the price drops -- at least $350 or so.

BTW, the Memory X page for 1.33ghz pb17's is (click here).

I think that it is a bit the same than the endless conversation
Mac V PC. Both of the camps have their points.

Well, since RAM is platform independent, it all comes down to price/quality ratio.

MemoryX (http://store.yahoo.com/memx/pog4117m.html)
has the exact same parts that Apple uses. I bought the 512MB dimm from them and the Samsung part # was identical. The 1GB Dimm is a little pricey however.

The shopkeeper-guy at the embedded Apple BicBic store said Apple was buying up all the supply of 1GB dimms (which was limited as it was), so that the price should come down once Apple stops buying or Samsung can ramp up production - until then it's $300 for 1GB (2x512) or $1200+ for 2GB (2x1024).
