i just bought a MacBook Pro 15" 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo.
when i tried to connect to the internet using my mobile phone via Bluetooth PAN, the connection is VERY VERY..i mean VERY VERY slow!!

at first i thought it was the line on my provider network that's busy or crashed, but then i tried it to an iMac G5, iMac intel, latest Macbook, with the same mobile phone, with the same OS and at the same time, they were running FAST..

then i went to my local Apple store to try other 2.5GHz Macbook Pro, just in case it's just my MacBook Pro that's crashed. guess what? all the latest MacBook Pro (15" and 17") CAN'T CONNECT PROPERLY using bluetooth PAN.

is there someone out there feeling the same?

a buddy of mine has a PowerBook and i just bought a new MBP (one week old) and we tried using blue tooth and it detected each others connection but we weren't sure what we could do. Another dilemma that ive read is the squeaky space bar. But i read over time , after breakin it in , it goes away. Lets hope s.

i dont know whether this is a hardware problem or software. try to connect your new MBP to a mobile phone using bluetooth PAN, and compare it to santa rosa, or even power pc..there's a significant difference on the speed of the connection. i just hope that this is a software problem, then 10.5.3 could fix it.. *finger crossed*

anyone experience same problem with the bluetooth PAN?

I am having the same issue with my new 17" MBP 2.5 GHz machine. Luckily I had an old USB bluetooth dongle in the draw. Once I put that in and did a new pair to that I am back to the normal high speed again.

Spoke with Apple and the had me do a reset and a P-Ram reset but it is still not working properly. When I get back home in a week or so will call them again. There is definitely something not right.

After pairing my bluetooth headset with MBPs bluetooth receiver, I get a terrible range. In fact, you could say that I get no range at all - only works, when I am staring directly at the screen (defeating the whole purose of having a bluetooth headset...).
Dongles work fine.

Update: According the the manufacturers website, mine is incompatible with Apples OS X.

There seems to be something seriously wrong with the the new units, not sure if it's a hardware issue or a firmware or software but I hope they can fix it soon.

It is Software related

Hi everyone.

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15' (just a couple of weeks ago).

I am certain it is a software issue as I have Windows Vista running on Boot Camp.

Using the Bluetooth drivers provided by Boot Camp, I was able to pair my AT&T Tilt to the Macbook Pro on Internet Connection Sharing and I am online without any speed problems like that (as I am using it right now to reply this thread).

Hopefully Apple will be made aware of this soon and provide a driver upgrade on the new equipments, as it is extremely necessary for my work as well.

I can connect my MBP to my phones, other computers, headphones, etc. No issues; yours may be sketchy--have it checked out by a Genius.

This comment is not useful mate, but thanks anyway.

I can also connect my Macbook Pro to other devices using Bluetooth, that is not the problem. The main issue resides in the SPEED of the connection. While my headset does work (a Motorola one), I cannot tether my AT&T Tilt to the Macbook Pro as I used to do it (still do) to my Macbook, and get a reasonable connection speed.

I do not live in a city where visiting an Apple Store is an option, so that is out of the question. Any other suggestions?

Apple has said they are going to open a apple shop in Melbourne soon. Once they do I am going to take mine in to see if they can work out what is wrong? Even though I have mine working with a USB Bluetooth dongle it's annoying to have to carry more stuff.

same bluetooth pan problem with late 2008 macbooks and macbook pros, seems to be a software problem on all of them, worked fine on my 1st generation macbook pro but now i get horrible speeds with the new macbook. i left some feedback for apple, hopefully if enough people leave feedback they will do something about it.
