Question new iBook G4 - memory

When the rev. A 12" powerbook were made, their max amount of memory was 640, but some companies made 1gb upgrades for them. Would those upgrades theoretically work on the new iBook?

i would think so if you asked me, apple probably doesnt advertise it though because lot of memory is a good selling point for the powerbook.
