Oh, yeah, I *made* you. Don't go blaming me for this, it was just a suggestion.

Anyway, women in general, and I mean this in the best possible way and observed first hand, are more emotional or let their emotions out more easily than men. To buy a mac based on an emotion decision is a lot easier seeing a Mac and knowing it will look nicer on your desk than an PC bloc. So I would say that in general, women would prefer macs.

I would love to here from the women and see what they have to say.

I would also say that a women would go for a Mac, just based on how it'll look in the front room (no offence ladies )

Women would go for Mac.
My wife is a good example:
She learned all about peecee, but when I showed her a mac in one of the computerstore's here, she went: whaow, that looks like a nice machine, the OS. She was sold on the spot.

If it were the women of the lame peecee guys who could make the choice, it would definitely be mac.

My friend... I'm not agree with you.

I Mac can look nice but:
1. Women just do not care about technology unless is a graphic designer.
2. Because of reason 1, they would preffer spending less money and they may get a PC.

A living example is my mother, she just want to have a new hard drive for her pentium, she doesn't care if is a 486, she doesn't care if she had to get her own IP with a modem becuase her computer can not use DSL. She just want the mail.

Another example, my girlfriend want any computer that can fit the $600. She was about to get a 9600/200 with a 21" monitor.

Macs are nice, but women are so elemental about that, they are not curious about technology or other details as men do.

Macs are good with people with good teast (beside the rest of the things), some other people just wants to have the job done, no matter if is gonna take a month longer. If I can go from Venezuela to the US in a Geo Metro, it works.

That's funny! Not what you said mymemory, I agree with you. I just think "women wanting to spend LESS money" is a funny idea. It's just about the only time you can say this

I think women in general could care less...however...

most people are "learned" on a PC...so they lean more towards PC just because they don't know any better...

I have seen women flock over the old iMacs though...

"they are so cute!!"

Where are the ladies?

How many women read these forums? Who's a member? I don't want women to think that we're pathetic because we're talking about computers and such. They'll associate us with Hank Hill standing outside next to the road with his friends, drinking beer and saying, "Yup".

My girlfriend much prefers Macs over PCs because of the looks (hardware and software) and the stability.

She's dying for me to buy her a new iMac...maybe as an engagement present...damn, I'm such a geek.

We're not really considering it, but it was a funny thought nevertheless.

I'm too old-fashioned to do anything but a ring.

Besides, at the rate Apple is going with software updates, the iMac wouldn't be able to run 10.3.

I object on principle to this thread. The previous "Macs and..." threads have asked for user's personal experiences, but none of you who have posted so far are actually women. The "Macs and Sexuality" thread got quite far before resorting to stereotypes, but this one is already on its way down the tubes.

That having been said. MyMemory, many, many women do indeed have great interest in technology, not just graphic designers. Women are, in fact, quite diverse, intelligent, and modern. Our interests extend far beyond birthing children, cooking and cleaning, and "pleasing our men" - but I wouldn't expect someone from a chauvinistic Third-World country like Venezuela to understand that. (Ouch! Uninformed stereotyping bites, doesn't it? )

The other arguments presented here - that women are "emotional," more money-obsessed than men (hello?! do you ever read what you yourselves write here?), readily spend thousands of dollars because something looks "cute," don't understand computers, only want computers that match their interior decorating, etc - are likewise based on stereotypical assumptions that for that matter one could apply to gay men (but you don't, because it's too politically incorrect. women, on the other hand, are fair game).

My experience as a female Mac user, has, I suspect, been quite similar to that of the rest of you men. Yes, I appreciate the aesthetics of Apple's designs - but let he who has not called a TiBook "sexy" cast the first stone. First and foremost I appreciate the stability of the OS and the high quality of both the hardware and software. My minimal understanding of the programming languages, etc that form the final product have absolutely nothing to do with my gender, as I have seen men on these boards ask far stupider questions than I could ever come up with.

So there. That'll teach you to ask for a woman's opinion, eh?

[Note: All of the above should be taken with a large spoonful of salt. My current bitterness - most of it at least - while certainly applicable, here is not your fault. )

Nice one!

I was wondering how long it would take before we actually had a female response on here. You know how terrible we guys are at figuring out women's minds!

I subscribe to Men's Health and that helped shed some light on how women tick. Most of the articles are written by women so don't flame Men's Health and accuse of them of not knowing what they're talking about.

If you've seen the movie, "What Women Want", I don't think you should believe in everything they say

there's nothing like an angry woman to put men in their place

Whilst on many occasions i've seen some pretty dumb things done on computers by women, an equal number have been done by men. My favourite so far was being called half-way across london by my pastor (a male one) to come and troubleshoot his new pc. He'd forgotten to switch the monitor on

Does the fact that i bought a tibook because i thought it looked good make me more feminine? Scary thought...

I hate to break this to you but Men's Health can't be held up as the Holy Bible of knowing women, regardless of whether or not the articles are written by women.

Each woman is an individual (as are all men). The things that some like, others can't stand. Some have moods for certain reasons, some just because. Get to know the woman you're with, not what the women writing magazine articles say she should be like.

many...

Many of the women that I have dataed have always like the Macs that I had. But most of them didnt know what a Mac was untill they started dating me. Many women are not that into tech and whats new. There are tons that are but from my experiance girl geeks are a minority. I did convert 2 Women that I was dating to Mac heads, an im working on a 3rd now.. but I need to work on the geek factor first...

All what you are saying shows how little you know about the world and that you are falling in to the average North American stereotype but... in the bad side.

First, Venezuela is not Mexico, you can not give ANY opinion if you haven't been here. I bet you haven't go as far as the Bahamas.

Venezuela is not even the shodow of what you may have in midn.

2nd. , believe it or not, the average North American man is more dominant over women because they have thet "machoman" thing in their head because you have mexicans as an example of "latin american culture", that couln't be more wrong. Puertoricans and mexicans are sad examples of what a lating american person is. Is like think that the average N.A. girld is like Britney Spears.

3rd. , WOMEN ARE NOT IN TO TECHNOLOGY AS MEN DOES, there are a lot of weman that are in the tendence but technology is a natural media for men.

Women are into technology as men are in to cooking! (I couln't be more precise).

4th. Women do not spend money in computers, they spend money in what they know (make-up, birth test, cloth, etc).

5th. Do not make fun about 3rd world countries because the US doesn't looks very stable neither. The socialist groups are getting stronger every where.

6th. Yes, woman are made to have children, cook and to have a good shape until we get bored of it! If they work and produce more money that they can spend is a plus.
