My ipod stopped playing songs

It worked well until today when I added a folder into my itunes, synced it..... and now only like 5% of my songs on the ipod work

The other ones are still there, but when I play, nothing happens then it just goes to the next song

What could have happened?

They all work on my itunes... I have done nothing differently

Restore your iPod back to factory settings in iTunes, and then re-sync everything across...

It's jailbroken

It has worked and now just started doing this

I'd rather not restore it to default settings...

Are those songs "Purchased" songs by any chance? If they are, your iPod touch may have forgotten your iTunes Store information. You should be able to just plug your iPod touch in, and double click one of the purchased songs on it and it might ask you for your login information... after you do that, the songs should play fine again. If not, make sure those songs play fine on your computer first and then copy them back onto the iPod touch again. I think DRM gets screwed up sometimes and the iPod has lost your login information.
