Apple Seeds Mac OS X 10.5.3 (9d19) to Developers

Apple waited a full week before seeding the latest version of Mac OS X 10.5.3 (9d19) to developers on Friday. The latest version of Mac OS X Leopard adds 31 bug fixes to the growing list of issues addressed in the upcoming release. Features that are specifically targeted for focused testing include AirPort, Back To My Mac, Spaces, Time Machine and many others.

Apple first seeded Mac OS 10.5.3 9d10 in late-March and has been issuing regular releases to developers.

Once complete, the final Mac OS X 10.5.3 update will become available as a free update to existing Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) users via Software Update. No target date is set, but testing for a new version can extend over several months.

Wherever you go. There’s your Mac.
Back to My Mac puts any remote Leopard-based Mac you use within easy reach. .Mac finds your Mac computers over the Internet and displays them in the Leopard Finder on the Mac you’re using. So you can connect from anywhere with just a click.

Apple, the creators, are most likely to give the explanation, cecemf never said there were her own words.

MBP Freezing

I hope this fixes the random freezing I have been experiencing lately along with a lot of other users. It appears it has something to do with the backlit keyboard.

Please Apple fix this.

What I want to see updated is that files associations persist through a reboot or logout when your using FileVault. Its very annoying to have it revert back to the defaults, or better yet, install a new program and the association changes, and you can't change it back to what it was... that's always a good time.

That and I hate sometimes in Safari, when I'm loading up a tab or two, I get a beach ball for like 10 secs as its struggling to load a particular page, then boom, its all better.

Don't get me wrong, I love Leopard . These are just my two main complaints.

I just use dyndns. Its free and works the same, mostly. I haven't tried back to my Mac yet, not sure I will since you have to pay for it.

This is my first mac (my reason for buying was Apple's innovation, the rock solidness of Tiger, and the nice additions in Leopard). I ordered it yesterday through macmall, it shipped yesterday and by the tracking ticket - it should be here today or Monday. Please let me be a happy mac owner!! I am really sick of Windows. WIN 98 second edition and XP professional were the best operating systems from MS. All the others I have not been happy with as there were too many problems and comapitibility issues. I did not dare to try vista. Many Many people I know upgraded to it or bought new computers and are sorry they did and are looking where they can buy XP disks.

Can any one tell me if these updates are required or optional? One thing I hate about MS is waking up in the morning to find that updates were downloaded and then spend 1/2 my day fixing the errors that are occuring.

Also, I probably may not connect my MAC to the internet (atleast not yet) I have heard that while Mac viruses are few and far between, Windows viruses still get downloaded to your MAC. While they can't do anything - they clog up your hard drive and eat disk space. Can anyone recommend a good virus protection, adware and bot removal tools for the mac? I would not want that junk clogging it up - should I connect to the internet.
MAC is not an acronym . But honestly, it just depends on your setup. I feel that if you've got a lot of 3rd party crap installed then you'll have more issues. I have not had any of the issues with Leopard people have expressed. I'm sure it does have its bugs, I just haven't seen them yet. In fact, since I installed Leopard when it first came out, I have never had a single freeze or kernel panic.

I hope they get back to my mac working on 3rd party routers. I know it has to do with how the security is setup and all, but I can't get BTMM working anywhere but home, or with an Apple router.

That is one of the best features I have seen in this new Leopard/Airport/Screen Sharing thing Apple has... I really hope they get it working.

I'm having trouble with this, too. I thought it was me. I hope we see some fixes in the next software revision.

any fix for connecting to windows servers?

Is there any mention of 10.5.3 fixing/attempting to fix anything regarding connecting to windows servers? Any samba fixes, fixes for authenticating with windows servers, fixes for samba packet signing?

A number of people are having trouble writing to windows servers:

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=467622

http://discussions.apple.com/thread....25033&tstart=0

The only "solution" thusfar is to reduce security on the windows server! It would be really nice to get this fixed.

I can only pray that if finally fixes the problems with Adobe CS3 apps - InDesign in particular. That has been a REAL nightmare!

I don't know what the problems are but maybe Adobe need to release an update to fix them, not Apple.

for me personally, leopard has been great for me on my new macbook. Nothing really wrong at all after about 18 days of using it. If they do add stuff it'd be great and if they are some how able to make it even faster that would be goood as well. It already is way faster than anything i've ever used.(it deff. shuts down faster than tiger). But overall its been a great experience.

Great feature, stupid name. Apple did a great job of avoiding the "my_____" naming that everyone else was using to "personalize" the net, right up till now.

This is an ill informed comment. Apple would be stupid to stop their "free" updates... that would be like paying for basic cable, unthinkable... I would never pay for a free update...
