MacHeist Retail Bundle: 12 Mac Apps, $49

Macheist has launched their latest application bundle. The 12 application bundle is somewhat of a "best of" bundle incorporating many applications featured in previous bundles. The bundle will be boxed and sold at retail stores over the next year, but for a limited time is available online.

The bundle is now available and the Mac OS X applications (valued at $286.55 separately) include:

Awaken - alarm clock and sleep timer, works with iTunes
Cha-Ching - money management software
CoverSutra - iTunes controller
DEVONthink Personal - database for all your digital files
iClip - multiple clipboard & scrapbook
Overflow - application and document launcher
Wallet - store and organize your passwords, serial numbers, credit cards and more
Writeroom - full-screen writing environment
XSlimmer - shrink the size of applications
Enigmo, Bugdom 2, Nanosaur 2 - games from Pangea

Total cost is $49 for all 12 applications. MacRumors is a promotional partner for MacHeist and sales through these links support MacRumors financially.

iClip is my favorite app of the bunch. Simple, but a great convenience.

it would be cool if Apple added full screen support on Text Edit, as that's all WriteRoom really is... full screen option for $24? no thanks...

That's the nice thing about a bundle, you can hate a couple of the apps but it may still be worthwhile for you.

Awaken. Cha-ching and Coversutra where in the last MacHeist (along with 1passwd which overlaps wallet). iClip, DEVONthink and Enigmo were in the previous one. If you got the last 2 heists, this one is more of the same.

I really like iClip alot. Its worth the standalone price. Coversutra is like Delicious Library (which was in the same heist as Enigmo), fun for a while but useless, really.

You need Windows. Everything on Windows is full screen and to tell you the truth I love that 95% of the time.

Sounds like a desperate move to compete with the coming MacUpdate bundle, which will have stuff like Parallels and other apps...

No new developers wanting to join the party maybe? Good apps, but reruns.

it's a nice app, for sure... it just seems like it could be a free app based on how text-book simple the development for it is. i agree the bundle is a good idea...

Full screen has always made me feel computer claustrophobic. I get so aggravated when I can't have my buddy list, powerpoint, and mail all open at the same time and still be able to see my desktop.

Actually, arn, you're right. Well, actually I never owned an Apple //c, but I used them in middle school, and then got to use some ][e systems in high school.

And you know what? I think I may just buy this app. It's nice to work in an environment where everything else is pushed out.

Hm, how about something good and useful, like TextMate?

p.s.
I would also accept an absolutely rocking, spiffy Mac UI for the git version control system

You're kidding, right?

I'm not normally so negative and blunt ... but this bundle sounds like crap.

Sorry, I know it aids the financial backbone of MacRumors but surely they could team up with a far better quality commerical partner? I'm sure there's loads of Mac developers and publishers out there with unique, well designed and underrated software which beats the pants off of this $49 selection of freeware.

And as for it being "worth" $286.55. Haha! Sure it is darling, sure it is ...

If the marketing staff are listening: partner up with and showcase quality software that we WANT to buy. Buying this bundle to appease our consciences and help out MacRumors is the same as buying those godforsaken "charity" records. Eugh.

(Wow, never been so angry before. This article really brought out the worst in me ... )

Don't buy it on our account. If you want it, buy it. Otherwise, move on. If history is any guide, these bundles have been popular. Though, I certainly agree that anyone who has purchased a previous bundle will not be as interested in this one due to the repetition.

Congratulations, your marketing ploy worked Arn!

The point I'm trying to make is that, although the "charity" records are normally mediocre, the cause they're trying to promote / finance, isn't. That's why I'd rather give the money directly to the charity.

The same goes for this bundle. I think people who really want to help MacRumors should become a contributor or buy quality Apple hardware from the links on this site.

Speaking of which ... I have JUST become a contributor. There you go, I've put my money where my mouth is! £13.02 at the current exchange rate is what PayPal charged me and I think it was worth every penny. Best of all, I feel good about it. I was gonna wait till I got to 500 posts, but hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go!

I see now that Arn was using subtle marketing and reverse psychology on me and low and behold it has worked. Happy now Arn? And I bet you get more money directly from this than if I'd bought the software ...

UPDATE: Wow, that was quick. It already says I'm a "macrumors Demi-God" - Yeah baby!

As usual all everybody's first reaction is to moan! Stop thinking about yourselves just because you already have the apps from another bundle. This is still a great deal and think of all the first timers we have on the boards with the increase in marketshare.

It isn't always about you.

I really dislike the constant negativity on this forum. Stop doing it!

I quoted Arn's post because people should learn from it as a lesson to put forward an opinion without sounding like a spoiled brat.

DEVONthink's purpose is completely eluding me. I looked all over their website and for the life of me I can't figure out what it does or what its purpose is. It seems to be a place where you can collate files and preview them, but I already have something that does that, it's called the finder and the iLife apps.

What am I missing?

Hardly. DevonThink is beyond that. If you have TONS of PDFs, or clip articles from the web, DevonThink works amazing. You can organize them, tag them, add comments to them, have them OCRed so you can search the text of things.

The Office version of Devon-Think offers scanning, but it doesn't seem to work on 10.5 yet......sadly.........
