Type intensive opening titles from movies?

I have a group project in typography class where we have to evaluate a DVD/movie that has a very type intensive kinetic typographic title sequence. I was just wondering if y'all had some ideas. The professor showed us a few, including 23, Juno, Into the Blue, etc. I'll be popping quite a few DVDs into the player in the next week searching. Anyway, thanks in advance for the suggestions.

and i assume you have seen this big kinematic typography list? not exactly film titles, but a cousin.
 
Thanks shecky. I'll look into that list. A couple of those are on the website that the prof. showed the class, so they are off limits. I have seen most of those in the link that you posted, and I'm surprised the prof. didn't show us any of them. The class is mostly focused on printed typography, but he wanted us to be familiar with kinetic typography, so we have this research project as a group. Anyway, thanks again.
 
Ditto Se7en and Panic Room (which had revolutionary opening titles). Also look at Fight Club, or anything else by David Fincher. The first Spider-Man would also be worth a look, as would Napoleon Dynamite.

And, of course, Almost Famous, which is brilliant.

Actually, he didn't touch too much on them. At times while browsing this section of the forums, I feel like I'm getting ripped of with my education. Seeing all these threads about the top design schools, etc. has me questioning. I don't even think my school is accredited, and I don't know why. I wonder if part of it is because there are only 3 teachers in the graphic design department at my school, so it's too much work for them? I honestly don't know.

I have seen the work of a few of the other schools in the state that are accredited memebers with NASAD, and from what I can tell my school has a better program. We had a guest speaker from a major advertising agency in Salt Lake City tell us that he hires more students that have graduated from my school than the other schools combined. I think the 3 professors at my school push us harder in some areas. I'd like to see how the top design schools differ in their teaching. Someone tell me that my education is worth it. Blah... 😕

I was thinking about this last night, back before onedotzero became all overly polished and serious (say onedotzero 1, 2 & 3 then, and perhaps 4 & 5) it was vastly experimental, especially conceptually... and often typographically.

It might very well be worth your time frequenting your institute library to see if they have copies on CD-ROM or DVD, and might well be an interesting and intriguing departure from the perhaps more predictable and mainstream work that has already had thousands of words inked in their honour.

Just a thought.

Try to go first. Then, no one will actually pay attention to anything you do or say because they will all be self-absorbed with their own presentations.

Then, you won't feel nervous.
 
Hey I've watched some of these movies, they are awesome! What software is used to create these and do these effects?

Especially interested in the one called 'The Child', but also the more 2D versions of dialog from movies like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

How do you DO this?!!

If you didn't notice, I said in that very post you quoted that my presentation was in less than 3.5 hours from the time I posted, yet you are telling me to try and go first? This was like a month ago. Keep up here dude! 😉 😛

Well, it could have been better, but I got a 4.0 this semester so I guess that means it went ok. 😀 That was only 3 classes: Drawing 2 (fairly easy), Communication Arts Seminar (easiest class I've ever taken), and Typography (pretty intense class).

Next fall will be a lot more intense. I have 5 classes: Brand Identity Design, Illustration Concepts, Greek and Roman Art History, Communication Arts Seminar again, and Sci/Tech/Modern Society (whatever that is). I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I have Brand Identity and Illustration Concepts back to back on Mon and Wed. Same teacher and same classroom even. I start with him at 1 p.m. and go until 7:30 p.m. 😱
