Aluminum MultiTouch MacBook, New MacBook Pro, and More

A MacRumors reader ran across a very unusual .Mac web page yesterday and was kind enough to forward it on. The page contained promotional images for Apple products, including a couple that are not yet shipping products.

Not a big fan of black keys on aluminum. Maybe it will grow on me but right now I prefer the solid color MacBooks.

It hearkens back to the days of the Titanium Powerbook G4.

Those were good days...

It's full circle back to the original TiBook.

I think the PowerBook G3s had black plastic keys as well. They were after all BLACK.

Don't all the screens on the images now have the standard Leopard background?

Edit: Too late.

It's bull**** cause if the new consumer MacBook is aluminum (which it will be) its keyboard will be white (i.e. not backlit). The Pro MacBooks will be the only ones black keyboards.

I meant of course, the silver body-black keyboard was full circle.

Ditto here, but it looks fake anyway.

well it does but does anyone think that apple is more likely to put the black bezel on the MB to keep it inline with the imac it seem to make more sence and that would bring back the same effect as white for lower end aand aluminium for pro machines well i think it makes more sence...

Agreed, but I have a feeling Apple would want to make it look the same as the MBA and we wont have a choice.

That sounds like an aesthetic reaction. What about the practicality? Have you actually used a MacBook Pro in poor light? One of the nastiest experiences ever imo.

The letters which are blacked out in good light become invisible in poor light and only visible again when they light up.

But if the light improves suddenly...BAM! off goes the light and the thing resets! If you want silver/grey keys, you need very black letters. It's not a viable option imo. And I fancy that's the conclusion what Apple's designers have come to.

Consistent contrast is essential. If the letters are going to light up, they need to be light in colour in the first place. This means that black keys are essential to achieve this.

I've used the new MacBook Air and it's the best keyboard since the PowerBook G4 Ti. Very nice.

Purely aesthetic. I never use my MacBook in poor light.

I sure hope there'll be more than just a black beveled edge that sets the MBP apart from the MB.

Hope those aren't "true" images. That MBP is ugly! The rounded border around the LCD screen reminds me of an old TV.

I hope these aren't right. I want Apple to keep making at least one plastic laptop line. They're just more durable.

FAKE FAKE FAKE!!!

1. When Apple updates the MacBook and MacBook Pro it will be on the main home page billboard not the sub mini bottom billboards underneath. That wouldn't be till the next announcement and then they would move to the bottom billboards.
2. That MacBook is too big to only be 13" with those speakers.
3. That MacBook Pro is so obviously Photoshopped with that ridiculously rounded screen that doesn't even match the shape of the base that it is pathetic. I mean all you have to do is look at it for one second to see that the ugly top is just cut and pasted onto the base.
4. They would all have the Leopard wallpaper.
5. iTunes would not be advertised like that lol.
6. iPhone design is the same as the current.

AMEN lol! People must be really hungry for rumors! I so hope that there is a 32 GB iPhone in June though. I don't wanna finally get my iPhone in June then have to already upgrade before Christmas to get 32 GB.

The menu bar on the top of the pages shown does not match apple.com's bar.

The designs shown for the MacBook and MacBook Pro seem reasonable enough at first sight, but having Tiger on the screen seems to put the lie to the whole thing.

Also, if the page with the computers pictured is part of a pre-set-up for advertising materials as it seems to imply, why does it have a picture of an "old" RAID array and an "old" (current) model Mac Mini?
