I am running Jaguar (10.2.8) on a 800MHz iMac. I have removed Classic from the login items but each time I start Word 2004 it asks if I want to start Word in classic mode.
How can I prevent this from happening?
Thanks!

Not sure if this works, but try get info a word doc, and then define/select which program to open when double clicking on the .doc files.

I think you mean each time your double click a Word doc..?
Word 2004 cannot run in Classic. It is Mac OS X only. Word 2001 was the last Mac OS 9 version of Word. Do yo have a "classic" version of Office (98, or 2001) on your Mac, and that maybe the .doc files are set to open with the older version of Word?
Or, because it is a Carbon app... maybe there is a Get-info panel in the app of Word 2004 that let's you select "open in Classic"...?

Thank you both for your suggestions.
I am helping a friend with this issue. My friend will contact me by tomorrow with what version of Word she has.
If she does have an older version of word (98 or 2001) how can I tell Word files not to open with Classic?
Thanks.
