quick look + big quicktime files

Any idea if its normal for quick look to choke on a large quicktime file (e.g 6gig file)? It freezes up my finder for a minute or two before it works. I don't think it has always been like that. I have a Mac Pro (early 2008) with 6 gigs of ram...
