How can I make it to where iTunes is not my MP3 player?

Every time I double click on an MP3 it opens up iTunes which is something I don't want. I would rather use VLC as my default MP3 player but I don't know how to do that.

can someone give me some advice on this?
 
Highlight an MP3 file in Finder, Press Apple+I to bring up the info window.

Change the Open with setting to VLC, and press Change All.
