Leak or Typo: 2.6GHz MacBooks?

Apple's hot news page is rotating an advertisement for "The new MacBook. Up to 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo."

The only problem is that the current MacBook tops out at 2.4GHz. It appears that this most likely represents a mistake rather than a true leak, though there were some unconfirmed rumors of a MacBook/MacBook Pro update last week.

I'm thinking typo... but then again, given the recent amount of reports and leaks - this may very well be a hint.

That would be pretty epic, I can't lie. That's like three processor upgrades within six months. Seems pretty fast..especially compared to all their other machines, like the Mac Mini

Looks like it has been fixed to say it is for the Macbook pros:

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw the image come up just now. Probably a typo.

That is the main reason I am waiting on a new MB, not for a redesign, but for a proc speed bump. I don't need a super drive, but do want a 2.4 GHz proc. I'm assuming this means there will be a speed bump of some sort, maybe only as a config choice though. I was personally expecting updates next week for the MBs in line with the last two years.

it has to be a typo...

it would be too close to the MBP's otherwise

Not if they were going to give the MBPs an even more significant speed upgrade- like 3.0ghz....

The redesign can't come soon enough.

I guess that at WWDC the current combo drive will die, it can't cost them less than the SD in any significant terms.

2.6GHz in a MacBook is probably going to happen eventually; but for now its probably just a typo.

They'll probably just keep it there until tuesday when the 2.6Ghz comes out on Tuesday...its easier than taking it down then putting it back up

I would assume the MBP would be bumped up if any of the MBs came standard with a 2.6, but it could be like the MBP's where 2.6 was an option.

Sometimes Apple's webmasters aren't that fast. After the most recent iMac update, the German Apple site sported an embarrassing typo for several days: An iMac banner proclaimed the systems were running at up to "3.06 HGz". (And no, they never explained what kind of unit "Higagertz" might be. ) So, it could be a bit before they correct it, especially since today's Sunday.

Probably an oversight as they are so busy preparing the graphics and information for all the new goodies we will get at WWDC!

Most likely just a goof but a 2.6 Ghz processor in a Macbook would be nice.
