This is getting interesting. I am still thinking we are going to hear something today if not tomorrow. It's becoming an expectation now that the BlackBerry 9000 is official and RIMs stock is up almost $6.0 so far. Although RIMs new phone is not generating nearly as much buzz as an Apple update would.

Did anyone else spot the line at the bottom:
"This line is eligible for equipment discount pricing when you sign up for a 2-year service agreement. You can also take advantage of our no-commitment pricing option."

I wonder if this a generic message that applies to the users account, or is this supposed to apply to the iPhone Black.

AT&T Webpage Leaks Black iPhone?

AppleInsider has noted that AT&T's website for existing users now has an option for a black iPhone.

There have been rumors that Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone would come with a glossy black back (1, 2). While there have also been some reported image leaks as well, the authenticity of such images remains highly doubtful.

Someone else posted on AI that many current phones (Tilt, Blackjack) also have the "black" moniker attached now. Even my Blackberry 8800, which has always and currently only been available in blue, is listed as the "Blackberry 8800 Black".

The mac community is OFFICIALLY in a feeding frenzy the last 2 days......

could still represent upcoming models of those phones... The correlation with existing rumors is too much to ignore.

It's just a generic message. It's indicating that the line is eligible, not the phone you choose. It also says that if you choose the plain iPhone.

well, this could make the claim completely bogus, but it could be part of an at&t attempt to hide the release as they prep their site. Keep in mind that AT&T isn't going to be the only carrier this time

Blast. Well, I'm in for one either way, but if I'm gonna be stuck with 2 year contract again the subsidy would be nice.

Did I miss something while I have been away? AT&T is not the sole provider of the iPhone in the U.S.?

It'll be interesting to see if that ends up being the official name of the next gen iPhone. Differentiating the product line by color... like Johnny Walker.

Wow, 50 cents we see something tomorrow. I don't like the looks of that black plastic mock-up tho. Have to look at it up close I guess.

I think we're going to find that that "case" picture that we all saw from Hong Kong was a part from the new phone. (not an external case as many have speculated and reported)

Which makes sense, because in that picture it was next to a part of the current iPhone (the "metal" back of the current iPhone)

It's also tapered to hide a little bit of the girth needed to support more battery for 3G.

What are you basing that on? In the US, AT&T still has an exclusive contract.

I just logged into my AT&T account at wireless.att.com and can verify this. I also tried the "select phone by image" option, which does clearly show "iPhone" and "iPhone Black", although the images used for each appear to be identical.

AT&T will be the *only* "official" provider of iPhones in the US. You must be getting confused with the news in Australia and Europe. Exclusivity isn't changing in the US anytime soon.

Come on 3G iPhone with blazing fast browser, REAL software for the working pro, and real smart phone features!

Hopefully Apple and AT&T can hook up with an insurance company and provide insurance for the blasted thing.

The mac community is OFFICIALLY in a feeding frenzy the last 2 days......

And, just like someone else said in the AppleInsider forums, the other phones that are listed with the "Black" suffix, do indeed come in black, as well as other color variants. For example, the BlackJack actually comes in red in addition to the normal black. So, the iPhone having a "black" suffix is in line with a separate model.

The Mac community OFFICIALLY does not jump to conclusions as quickly as you do.

Wow for a slip like this to happen, wouldn't they have to be much closer than WWDC for release?

While there have been rumors and some concrete information that there will be multiple carriers in international markets, we haven't heard anything about the U.S. going away from AT&T exclusivity.

To be honest, who would you go to? Does anyone else really have a solid 3G GSM network in the U.S.?
