I live in Bakersfield, CA. It gets up to ~115F in the summer time. Inside the car it gets to upwards of 160, 170. It's ridiculous. Could it damage a MacBook if I were to leave it in my car all day?

Weird, I mean ... My MacBook Pro runs at 60c and up some times during full load.
I think we'll just not leave it in the car. 😉

I would never leave my BlackBook in the car. Not only will the heat eat it up, some pecker-head might break in and run off with it. It is always safe when it is with me>😎
170 degrees?! That is certainly way too hot. Don't leave it in your car unless you want a nice hot seat full of MacBook soup.
I had a laptop in my car, blazing summer sun in Galveston, TX a couple of years ago and the sun's heat killed the lcd screen. So, yeah, don't do it.

How about in the trunk? The cabin is hotter from all the energy entering through the windows that can't escape once inside. If it is turned off, I don't think it be too much harm despite making reducing battery lifetime.
Remember, they ship these things to hot places and they are on the fedex or UPS truck all day.
