What do you think? Possible ?

Would fit the timing...

IIRC Apple said they were moving to a longer development cycle. So I'd
say the WWDC after for the first mention.

If they want to mention bootoffable ZFS, or fully implemented resolution
independence, I'll be overjoyed. As things stand, I expect the iPhone to
take center stage.

well usually its 12 to 18months. So a preview would mean 10.6 for next year. And Apple would not preview of at Macworld before it is shown to devs.

So iguess it might be for june 09...

It will have been about 8 months at WWDC since they released 10.5, so it would make sense to begin talking about 10.6. Given that they are almost certainly going to be discussing development of the iPhone OS at WWDC, they are about halfway through their purported development cycle of new OS 10.x's, and they announced the WWDC with a picture of two bridges coming together, it would make a lot of sense for 10.6 to be a big topic. It probably won't be even a half-disclosure of what they're planning to do with 10.6, but the tie-ins with the iPhone will be a big topic.

Bring on .6!

I'm pretty confident it will.

I also think we will at least see a mention.

Tiger was ~12-13 months old when we saw the first preview of Leopard.

Leopard will be 8 months old which is considerably younger however if there is no preview then it will be 20 months old by the next WWDC, unless of course there is a special Geoffroy's Cat 10.6 Preview event later on in the year.

Of course remember that Leopard would've been older if they kept to the Spring release date like originally planned, but if they shifted the devs from 10.6 to the iPhone then perhaps it will have impacted on it as well.

Maybe a name...

Wouldn't expect much more than that at the most...

I'm hoping it will mostly be Leopard related features where Mac OS X is concerned... although that's unlikely... bloody iPhone. (don't get me wrong, it's great. But it's being mentioned waaaay too much)

That's all I'm expecting as well.

It's just too soon to focus on the next OS; this year's WWDC will be entirely iPhone oriented, with possible hints on how the iPhone OS will tie in with 10.6.

Besides, Apple's clearly trying to slow down their OS release cycle, not speed it up.

I would hope Apple is focusing on 10.5.3 before thinking about 10.6 🙂

While most likely there will be no mention of 10.6 at WWDC 10.6 most definitely has been in the making before Leopard was even released. Remember Apple had been working on OS X to run on Intel processors since inception, they always plan ahead.
