Australian Apple Store 'Drop in soon' Teaser

Sydney Morning Herald reports that Apple has posted a teaser sign at the location of the first Apple Store in Australia.

The sign reads "Drop in soon. Apple Store, Sydney". Located at 77 King Street, the three story building is expected to have about 1335 square meters of floor space. While no official launch date has been announced, rumors point to June 19th at 6pm as the opening date. According to SMH, this is the first Apple Store to be located in the southern hemisphere.

+1 for a Queensland store!

Heck we have 4 million people! Victoria only has 5 million and they get a store

But where could they put it? Auckland's CBD is sad, trashy and full of bums. South is worse. West is cheap. North shore - not dense enough for the kind of foot traffic an Apple Store would require. Bah, I'm moving to Oz (like every other kiwi).

we all new this was going to be Australia's first Apple Store but now we have confirmation.

cant wait to visit Sydney next as i will certainly make my first Apple Store appearance ! OoOo i will have to buy something…

My guess is Apple will expand to Melbourne, then Brisbane and the Gold Coast and then hopefully an appearance in Adelaide and Perth.

Apple already have a store about to open in Chadstone in Melbourne, it's a smaller store similar to the one opening in Chatswood Chase in Sydney. There is also one rumoured for a large site near Chapel Street.

As for anywhere else I haven't heard a thing.

I reckon they should put one in Tauranga - there are lots of rich people there

No, but seriously, it's a great place. And not just because I live there.

One more thing: This is my first post! I've been following Mac Rumours for a couple of months, and have finally decided to speak / sign up.
