OSX in a Windows Server Environment??

Has anyone ever used a Mac in a Windows server network? I may have an opportunity to play with server 2008 & was wondering if it would be worth setting up a 2k8 domain and putting my MBP on that network. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this... had a geek moment. 🙄
 
Windows server and OSX

I have it set up and it works fine . . . it used to be a pain but now it's not that bad. most of the problems I have is with the windows side seeing the OSX drives
 
So does it require any 3rd party software for OSX (or Windows, for that matter)? Can you do domain authentication from an OSX machine? What did you have to do to make the shared drives work both ways?
