Uploading from Imovie to YouTube...poor quality

i upload my movies to youtube via "share" "quicktime"...but once uploaded..the quality is very grainy...and blurry....

is this something to do with the quality of my video and video camera?

or is it the way i'm saving it to Imovie...(example: widescreen DV) ..or is it the share function (example: saving as CD ROM, Web Stream, etc)

thanks in advance for your help....

here's an example...of one video

Looks about as good/bad as the rest of the stuff on YouTube, which compresses the heck out of anything no matter what format it's in.

actually..no it isn't....

this one is very good quality.....I'm thinking it might have something to do with the quality of the DV...

I am guessing this one looks better because it is in slow-motion with very little action, so the data compresses much better under the kbps youtube encodes at.

Your video looks a bit better with &fmt=18 on the end of the YouTube URL (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=q64I16TsnnQ&fmt=18) which loads the 'higher quality' version.

How does it compare to an exported copy saved on your computer?

Use Vimeo. Streams in HD if you shot HD, and users are able to download your original QT file if you wish. The quality of DV is also much higher.
